Langtry Farms Vineyard and Winery By Barbara Barielle Although these vineyards in the quiet, scenic Guenoc Valley – just over the hill from Howell Mountain in Napa’s St. Helena – had a star-powered beginning, the family behind Langtry Farms wants visitors to know they are just that; a family that grows sustainably and produces the highest quality wines while nurturing the lands where they are grown.

Lillie Feather Boa is a youthful, more ready-to-drink bottling from Langtry, a legacy producer known for its age-worthy wines from high-elevation volcanic locations. This one does not disappoint, with aromatics of Bing cherry, mulberry, graham crackers, dried nutmeg, and star anise on the nose. Hints of cranberry and raspberry skip across the palate, creating a mouth-watering texture and supple finish. There is something special about the grapes grown in high-elevation gravelly volcanic soils. The Guenoc Valley in Lake County has only one winery in its AVA. It’s named after its original proprietor, Lilian Langtry, who founded the winery in 1888. This area is an oldie but goody as it offers up sublime versions of Bordeaux varietals and usual tough love Petite Sirah with gobs of dark, lush fruits, incense spice aromatics, and supple, gritty tannins on the finish. Pop open a bottle, decant, and enjoy with a roaring fire and a decedent meal. — Tonya Pitts https://www.wineenthusiast.com/buying-guide/langtry-2022-serpentine-meadow-petite-sirah-guenoc-valley/
